ANIMAL PAINTING..........CHECK IT OUT Hello my name is Molly (check-in #165). I am a 6 year old spayed female Bassett found as a tray and brought to the shelter. ( I forgot my sunglasses when they took me out for my picture). I like doing my painting and I think it is very pretty. To check out my painting and some of my other friends STOP IN! Woodland Blvd DeLand, FL Open Mon. - Fri. from 10am until 4pm Sat. from 9am until 4pm Closed Sundays We accept all donations including furniture, appliances, clothing, and aluminum cans. Donations may be dropped off at the store during business hours or call the West Volusia Humane Society at 734-2450 Mon. - Sat. from 11am until 4pm, to arrange for pick-up of larger items. Research shows that pet owners enjoy numerous physical and emotional benefits from the human-pet bond. For instance, stroking your pet can lower your blood pressure and heart rate, and helps you relax. Pets make great companions and often are the only source of emotional support, especially for the elderly or the sick. In addition, if laughter is the best medicine, having a pet makes us laugh more and motivates us to get out and get exercise. A November American Heart Association study shows that canine or feline companionship may have a role in taming "stress response." The study was conducted on 48 male and female stock brokers who were using medicine to control high blood pressure. They found that those with a pet nearby experienced half the increase in blood pressure under stress as those who did not own a pet.
