All adoptions must be approved, and the WVHS reserves the right to disapprove any adoption. We know that this may seem harsh, but the welfare of the animal is The WVHS's first priority. Our policies are designed for the safety and well being of our animals. If stray, we need to hold the animal for 5 working days before they can be considered for adoption.
Kennel Visiting Hours: When a person has selected an animal for adoption, he or she needs to complete an adoption application. If the application has been approved, the adopter can pay the adoption fee, and sign the adoption contract. All cats are tested for Feline Leukemia, AIDS, and all dogs over six months are tested for heart worms. The adoption fee covers 1st booster shot, worming and a free visit to your vet. You will also receive a certificate worth $25 toward spay or neuter (if necessary) and 10 weeks of FREE obedience classes. The adoption fee for dogs, puppies, cats and kittens is $60.00. We ask that you have the adopted animal check by a veterinarian. We do not willfully permit a sick animal to leave the shelter; however, we do not have a veterinarian on duty. If you find that the animal is ill, you can return it to us within 48 - hours (72 hours if adopted on a Saturday) and your money will be refunded. We thank you for your interest in providing these lovable animals with a good home. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
